One word:  Crazy.  Sgt Crank is the first Sergeant of this outfit.  He is not quite right in the head, possibly because he sniffed a little too much agent orange in Vietnam. He has a very short fuse and absolutely no compassion for anyone.  He eats, sleeps, and breathes the military. Both the enlisted guys and the officers fear him because you never know when he might have a flashback.
